Dhurrie rugs are an ancient art form of India. They are one of the most traditional floor coverings used. To this day, dhurries are still just as popular among people of all cultures. Vertical and horizontal threads of wool are interlaced together, either by loom or by hand, and weaved to make the dhurrie. These rugs involve no piling or backing. Their reversible and lightweight nature quickly makes them a customer favourite. The rugged flatweave design of these rugs makes them durable and long-lasting. Their casual yet artsy look makes them a suitable choice for almost any setting. Dhurrie rugs are known for their artful designs and appealing colours.
How Do We Manufacture PET Dhurries at Rugs In Style?
Rugs In Style is a top manufacturer of recycled polyester (PET) rugs in India. We make good quality rugs made of recycled polyester that come in an array of varying shapes and sizes. The recycled PET yarn is upcycled from discarded plastic bottles. Discarded plastic containers collected from scrap markets in India are used as raw materials for these rugs. These containers are recycled and then re-spun to form new yarn. It is indeed a time-consuming manufacturing process. About 1.2kg of plastic waste is recycled to create 1kg of plastic fibres, ultimately processed into roughly 900 gm of PET yarn. A rough estimate of 300-400 plastic bottles is recycled to make one PET dhurrie measuring about 5ft X 8ft.
